Spruce Pine Alien Festival 2026: North Carolina's Largest UFO Celebration Returns

Alien hunters, UFO enthusiasts, and curious earthlings should mark their calendars for Saturday, June 13th, 2026, when the 4th Annual Spruce Pine Alien Festival (formerly known as the SPACE Festival) takes over Downtown Spruce Pine, NC, along Oak Avenue. Recognized by NC Tripping as a Top 30 June Festival in North Carolina, this free, one-day, pet-friendly outdoor event drew over 50,000 visitors last year, cementing its status as the largest UFO and Alien Festival in North Carolina.

Visitors can explore over a mile of out-of-this-world shopping featuring more than 200 unique vendors, artists, and crafters selling alien-inspired art, handmade gifts, and commercial goods celebrating UFOs, extraterrestrials, the Sun, Moon, stars, the paranormal, Bigfoot, and beyond. Hungry travelers will find galactic menus at local restaurants and food trucks serving up dishes that are truly out of this world, while Spruce Pine's rustic downtown shops roll out special UFO-themed sales all day long.

Wondering why Spruce Pine? Mitchell County boasts more UFO sightings than anywhere else in North Carolina, and the state ranks in the top 10 UFO hotspots in the United States. Some believe it's the dark mountain skies, the rare minerals mined in the region, or the mysterious Brown Mountain Lights, famously featured on Ancient Aliens, that draw visitors from across the galaxy.

Families will love the Spruce Pine Alien Close Encounter Zone, located in the heart of the festival on Oak Avenue. Kids of all ages can ride the FunTime Alien Train, bounce through giant inflatables, race down massive alien slides, play carnival games, and enjoy concessions throughout the day. Tickets are available at the FunTime Inflatables sales tent with budget-friendly pricing: 1 ticket for $1, 6 tickets for $5, 12 tickets for $10, and 25 tickets for $20. Inflatables typically require 2–3 tickets each, while train rides cost just 5 tickets per person.

Costume lovers won't want to miss the legendary Area 51 Costume Contest, where adults and children compete for cash and prizes dressed as their favorite aliens, spaceships, planets, monsters, or extraterrestrial creatures. This year's contest will be hosted at the Lavonia Crest and Skyline Village Inn Main Stage, with pre-registration available from 9:00 AM to 11:45 AM at the Milky Way Main Stage on the corner of Topaz and Walnut Avenue (across from Howell Sparks Realty). The contest kicks off at 12:00 noon sharp.

Music lovers should pack their folding chairs and head to the Milky Way Music Stage for the FREE Spruce Pine Alien Music Festival, a full day of stellar performances by talented local bands. Opening ceremonies begin at 9:00 AM, launching an unforgettable lineup of tunes designed to rock the entire universe.

Whether searching for answers to the timeless question "Are we alone in the universe?" or simply looking for an unforgettable family adventure, the Spruce Pine Alien Festival on June 13th, 2026 is the must-attend extraterrestrial event of the year.
